DURHAM, N.C. – Duke outside hitter Emily Sklar earned ACC Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue Devils to conference wins over Notre Dame and Wake Forest this past week. Sklar totaled a team-high 35 kills and posted a .380 hitting percentage over the two matches, averaging 5.00 kills per set while helping the Blue Devils extend their current winning streak to nine matches.
A 6-3 sophomore from San Jose, Calif., Sklar began the week with a season-high 18 kills in Duke’s four-set victory at Notre Dame. She hit .343 against the Irish while also adding six digs and three blocks.
Sklar followed that performance with a match-high 17 kills versus Wake Forest Sunday, marking her seventh-straight match with double-digit kills. She committed just two attack errors against the Demon Deacons, recording a .417 hitting percentage in the match.
Sklar is the third Duke player to earn ACC weekly honors this year, joining classmate Elizabeth Campbell and freshman Sasha Karelov. Campbell and Karelov garnered ACC Player of the Week and ACC Freshman of the Week accolades, respectively, after guiding Duke to victories over Indiana and Illinois.
Sklar leads Duke with 178 kills this season while hitting .262. A 2012 All-ACC Freshman Team selection, she has amassed 497 kills over her first 42 collegiate matches.
