DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s tennis team is set to conclude fall tournament play this weekend at the 2013 Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, held Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Athletic Center of Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton, Fla.

The Blue Devils will send two players to the tournament, with junior Jason Tahir and sophomore Bruno Semenzato entered in the men’s open singles draw.

Tahir, the 111th-ranked player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s preseason poll, heads to Florida with a singles ledger of 3-1. He will face Jack Hamburg of Minnesota in the round of 32. In his first action of the fall, Tahir reached the round of 16 in singles at the ITA Carolina Regional and teamed with sophomore Michael Redlicki to advance to the doubles semifinals at the regional tournament.

Semenzato will join Tahir in the singles open draw where he will take on Lance Lvovsky of Florida Gulf Coast as the bracket’s seventh seed. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native owns a 10-3 mark in singles this fall after claiming a singles title at the season-opening Duke Fab Four Invitational and playing his way into the quarterfinals at the ITA Carolina Regional.

The two Duke players will also team up in the men’s open doubles draw this weekend. Tahir and Semenzato received the tournament’s No. 3 seed and are slated to meet Timmy Berg and Christopher J. Ellis of Bates College in the round of 16.
