DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior wide receiver Jamison Crowder was named ACC Receiver of the Week for the second time this season after catching 10 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns in Duke’s 28-21 win at Wake Forest Saturday.
Crowder, who has also earned ACC Specialist of the Week honors twice in 2013, hauled in touchdown receptions of 10 and 58 yards as the Blue Devils improved to 9-2, won their seventh game in a row and locked up at least a share of the ACC Coastal Division crown. The 10-catch game was Crowder’s second game with double-digit receptions this season, while the 100-yard game was his school-record tying sixth of the year.
Crowder also added a nine-yard rush to total 130 all-purpose yards, his sixth game reaching that yardage mark. With the performance, Crowder became the second Duke player to catch 80 passes in a season and the second with multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons. The Monroe, N.C., native leads the ACC in receptions (83) and ranks second in receiving yards (1,077), all-purpose yards (1,500), punt return average (15.7) and punt return touchdowns (2). He is now two receptions shy of tying Conner Vernon’s school record for receptions in a season.
The ACC Player of the Week award is the 14th won by a Duke player this season and the fourth by Crowder. Duke has received at least one league player of the week citation in seven of the past eight game weeks
Duke will turn to Crowder again this Saturday, Nov. 30, against Tobacco Road rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill where Duke can lock up the ACC Coastal Division title and a trip to the ACC Championship game. Saturday’s game kicks off at noon and will air on ESPN2.
