DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman Jabari Parker was named ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week after leading the Blue Devils to wins over UNC Asheville, East Carolina and Vermont this past week in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Parker averaged 22.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.7 blocks with a double-double against UNC Asheville and 20 points in all three games. He shot .574 (27-of-47) from the field and .429 (3-of-7) from three-point range for the week with at least eight made field goals and one three-pointer in each contest.

Against UNC Asheville, Parker totaled 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal in 19 minutes of action as the Blue Devils defeated the Bulldogs 91-55 in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. He followed with another 21-point outing in the next round in an 83-74 win over East Carolina, adding nine rebounds, two assists and a career-high six blocks.

Parker’s biggest performance of the week came Sunday evening when he scored 26 points in a 91-90 win against Vermont. He scored 13 of 15 Duke points during a seven-plus minute stretch in the second half in which Vermont scored 17 to maintain an 81-79 lead. His alley-oop dunk from Rasheed Sulaimon at the 3:11 mark tied the game at 81-81, allowing Duke to hold on until Rodney Hood hit the game-winning free throw with five seconds left. Parker finished with nine rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist in 35 minutes to extend his streak of consecutive 20-point games to six.

Parker’s streak of six consecutive 20-point games to open his career is the longest by a Division I freshman since Indiana’s Eric Gordon had six to start the 2007-08 season. It is the second longest streak by a Duke player to open a season, trailing only the 10-game tear Art Heyman – then a junior – had at the start of the 1961-62 season.

The Blue Devils will turn to Parker once again this Wednesday, Nov. 27, in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off against Alabama in Madison Square Garden. The game tips off at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN. With a win, Duke would move on to face the winner of Arizona and Drexel Friday.
