DURHAM, N.C. – The 14th-ranked Duke volleyball team opens NCAA Championship play with a first-round matchup against the College of Charleston Friday, Dec. 6 in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils take the court versus the Cougars at 7:30 p.m.

Duke, the No. 16 overall seed in the 64-team tournament, is set to host the first two rounds on its home court. A win over College of Charleston (25-5, 13-1 CAA) would pit Duke (27-4, 18-2 ACC) against the winner of the first-round contest between American (32-2, 15-1 Patriot League) and Georgia (22-9, 11-7 SEC), played Friday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Cameron.

Game 1: Georgia vs. American - 5:30 p.m.
Game 2: Duke vs. College of Charleston - 7:30 p.m.

For fans unable to attend, the Blue Devil Network will stream all three matches this weekend free of charge via GoDuke.com.

The Blue Devils clinched the 2013 ACC Championship and the league’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid in thrilling fashion, rallying for a five-set victory over then-No. 14 North Carolina in the season finale to avoid a three-way tie with UNC and Florida State for the conference crown. Duke has won 11 ACC titles in program history, including four over the past eight campaigns.

This season marks Duke’s ACC-leading 18th NCAA Tournament appearance and 11th under head coach Jolene Nagel. The Blue Devils received a national seed for the second time in program history and first since garnering the No. 12 seed in 2010.

Hailing from the Colonial Athletic Association, the College of Charleston punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Northeastern in the CAA tournament finals. The Cougars are making their second consecutive and eighth overall NCAA Tournament appearance. Led by CAA Player of the Year Darcy Dorton, the College of Charleston has won 15 of its past 16 contests entering the weekend.
