DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke University wrestling team closes out its regular season Saturday in Card Gymnasium with a pair of duals against ACC foe NC State and Big Ten opponent No. 21 Northwestern.

The Blue Devils will recognize lone senior Brian Self prior to the NC State dual at 10 a.m. Duke and Northwestern square off at 2 p.m., following the NC State – Northwestern dual. All three matches will feature live video on the Blue Devil Network+ in addition to live scoring through Trackwrestling.

Duke (6-13, 0-5 ACC) will be facing its seventh ranked opponent of the season when the Wildcats to Durham, while the Blue Devils look to pick up a second straight win over the Wolfpack. Duke and NC State are meeting for the 79th time with the Wolfpack holding the 57-20-1 lead in the series. The Blue Devils cruised to a 22-9 victory at NC State a year ago as well as in 2009.

Northwestern visits Duke’s campus for the first time as the two teams dual for the second time overall. The Wildcats defeated the Blue Devils in the inaugural meeting , 33-12, last season. Northwestern will be the fourth Big Ten foe Duke has faced this season.

Saturday will feature a variety of interesting matchups on the mat as Duke redshirt junior Immanuel Kerr-Brown will square off with NC State’s Thomas Gantt for a chance remain undefeated in ACC action and redshirt sophomore Conner Hartmann will take on No. 13 Alex Polizzi of Northwestern.

Kerr-Brown, sporting a perfect 5-0 mark against ACC foes, is ranked 32nd in the NCAA’s first RPI rankings, while Gantt comes in at No. 18 with a 28-7 mark. The Duke captain also is unbeaten in his two three Big Ten bouts and has seven wins overall by two or fewer points.

Hartmann, ranked 16th in the TOM Division I rankings, is 18-8 overall with five of those losses coming against top 20 foes. The redshirt sophomore has won two straight and six of his previous seven bouts. He will face Polizzi of Northwestern for the third time in his career. The pair split a pair of matches last season with Hartmann edging Polizzi 5-2 at the Keystone Classic and Polizzi taking a 6-2 decision at the Northwestern Duals.

The Northwestern dual will feature a rematch at 174 between Trey Adamson and Northwestern’s Lee Munster. The Wildcat junior, ranked eighth, earned a major decision over Adamson a year ago. Adamson heads Saturday’s duals with a 15-11 overall record and 10-8 mark in duals. He is 2-1 against Big Ten opponents this year and 0-5 in the ACC.

Adamson will start the weekend against NC State’s Pete Renda with a 24-7 overall record and 3-2 mark in ACC competition.

Northwestern enters the weekend with a 6-7 overall record and 1-7 mark in Big Ten competition. The Wildcats have lost six straight with all six losses coming against conference foes ranked in the top 18, including No. 1 and No. 2.

Ranked sixth 149, Jason Tsirtsis leads the Wildcats with a 21-3 record. Pierce Harger, also sixth in the latest polls, joins Tsirtsis in the 20-wins club, while No. 13 Alex Polizzi is 17-7. Munster returns to the mat after missing the past three duals and is ranked 17th. Despite just wrestling 10 matches this season, Mike McMullan tops the rankings at heavyweight with a 9-1 record.

NC State closes out its ACC schedule with a 13-4 mark and 1-4 record in the ACC. Gantt is tops for the Wolfpack with a 28-8 overall record, while Renda and Sam Speno (141) also have 20-plus wins on the year.

Duke will take nearly two weeks off from competition before heading to Virginia Tech for the ACC Championships March 8.
