DURHAM, N.C. – After collecting a pair of ACC wins on the road last weekend, the 13th-ranked Blue Devils (12-5, 4-1 ACC) continue their travels this week with visits to No. 47 Miami and No. 30 Florida State.

Miami Series History
Duke and Miami have faced off 40 times in program history with the Hurricanes leading the series, 23-17 … The Blue Devils have won each of the past three meetings and are 6-11 when playing Miami in Coral Gables … Duke has gone 8-2 against the Hurricanes since they joined the ACC in 2004.  

Last Time We Met
Duke did not drop a set in a 7-0 sweep of the Hurricanes Apr. 14, 2013 at Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham … The Blue Devils won all three courts in doubles, with the tandem of Chris Mengel and Fred Saba clinching the point with an 8-3 victory over Marco Stancati and Henrique Tsukanoto of Miami on court three … Mengel also secured the team win from the No. 4 position in singles.

Scouting the Hurricanes
Ranked 47th in the latest ITA Division I team poll, Miami owns a 12-6 overall record and a 2-3 conference ledger entering the weekend … The Hurricanes are coming off of a pair of losses to Virginia and Virginia Tech on the road last weekend … Omar Aly, the 92nd-ranked player in the country, leads the squad with a 7-2 mark from the No. 1 spot in singles … Aly and teammate Wilfredo Gonzalez have gone 6-3 at the top spot in the doubles lineup.

Florida State Series History
The Blue Devils are 27-11 all-time against the Seminoles and have won the past six meetings between the two teams … Duke is 10-6 historically when facing Florida State on the road.

Last Time We Met
Duke and the Seminoles last squared off in the quarterfinals of the 2013 ACC Championship in Cary, N.C. … The Blue Devils captured the doubles point and posted three straight-set victories in singles to win by a 4-0 margin … Chris Mengel and Fred Saba clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win on court three … Raphael Hemmeler, Jason Tahir and Michael Redlicki contributed wins from the No. 5, 6 and 3 positions in singles to send Duke to the tournament semifinals.

Florida State, listed No. 30 in the ITA poll, is 15-7 on the year and 3-3 in conference play heading into a Friday afternoon match against North Carolina in Tallahassee … The Seminoles suffered a pair of ACC losses to Virginia Tech and Virginia on the road last weekend … No. 101 Dominic Cotrone has posted an 11-9 record at the top spot in the lineup … The squad also boasts two more nationally-ranked players in No. 65 Cristian Gonzalez Mendez and No. 123 Benjamin Lock … Lock and Marco Nunez form the 15th-ranked doubles pair in the nation while the 41st-ranked duo of Cotrone and Blake Davis has gone 8-8 at the No. 1 position.

Scouting the Blue Devils
Duke (12-5, 4-1 ACC) earned a pair of ACC road wins last weekend, edging then-No. 9 Notre Dame in a 4-3 thriller in South Bend and topping Boston College by a 7-0 score in Dedham, Mass. … The Blue Devils moved up one spot to No. 13 in this week’s ITA rankings … Jason Tahir, the 48th-ranked player in the ITA singles poll, is 18-6 overall and 3-2 from the No. 1 position … Senior Fred Saba (No. 54) and sophomore Bruno Semenzato (No. 71) are also ranked nationally in singles … Saba and junior Raphael Hemmeler are 9-3 overall as a doubles tandem, boasting a 3-1 ledger in conference play.

Blue Devils Key Upset of No. 9 Notre Dame
Duke used a total team effort to knock off the then-No. 9 Fighting Irish last Friday in South Bend, Ind. … After dropping the doubles point, the Blue Devils rallied to collect four wins in singles … Junior Jason Tahir and senior Fred Saba tallied wins from the top two spots in the lineup, with No. 48 Tahir upending 29th-ranked Greg Andrews of Notre Dame in the No. 1 contest … Junior Raphael Hemmeler added a point from court three and sophomore Bruno Semenzato came through in the clutch, securing the 4-3 victory with a three-set win on court four.

Semenzato Reaches Career-High Ranking in Singles
Sophomore Bruno Semenzato jumped 21 spots to No. 71 in the latest ITA Division I singles poll … The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has compiled an overall singles ledger of 24-8 while going 12-4 in dual matches … He has played primarily at the No. 4 slot in singles, posting a record of 10-2 … Semenzato also owns three wins over ranked opponents this season.

Saba Approaching 100-Win Mark
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native Fred Saba is nearing the 100-win milestone in singles in his fourth year with the program … He owns a career record of 96-46 in singles contests and is 84-48 in doubles play … Saba has won at least 26 singles matches in each of his previous three seasons.

“Miami has done really well recently and they have a good record in the conference,” said head coach Ramsey Smith. “They’re very tough at home … Florida State is very good at doubles. They also play well at home. We just need to make sure we’re ready to go.”
