DURBAN, South Africa – Duke University sophomore Jaimee Gundry won the women’s platform diving competition this week at the South Africa national diving championships, held at the Kings Park Aquatic Centre in Durban.
Gundry earned a total award of 249.50 on her list of dives to edge the field at the national diving championships. She has also previously represented her native country of South Africa at the 2012 FINA Junior World Diving Championships.
Duke’s top female performer on the platform this season, Gundry qualified for the event finals at the ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship for the second consecutive season. She totaled a personal-best score of 285.80 in the final to place sixth, one spot higher than last year. Gundry also competed in the one-meter and platform competitions at the 2014 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
