GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three members of the sixth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team were named to the All-ACC First Team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday. Duke tied with North Carolina, Miami and Clemson for the second-most representatives on the All-ACC team, behind only Virginia, which had four.
Sophomore Beatrice Capra, junior Ester Goldfeld and senior Hanna Mar were each named to the All-ACC First Team. Goldfeld and Mar were All-ACC selections for the third time in their respective career while Capra received the honor for the second time in her career.
Goldfeld, who is out of Brooklyn, N.Y., leads the Blue Devils this season with 27 singles victories and owns the second most doubles wins with 21. The 26th-ranked Goldfeld also leads Duke with a 10-match win streak in singles play dating back to March 2. She is ranked with three different Blue Devils in the latest ITA doubles ledger.
A native of Ellicott City, Md., Capra currently owns a 26-7 record this season, including an impressive 16-5 mark against nationally ranked opponents. Capra has played in the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles in every match this season. She is currently ranked No. 7 nationally in singles and teams with Mar on the fifth-ranked doubles tandem. In the fall, Capra claimed the ITA Carolinas Regional singles title and the ITA National Singles Consolation championships.
Mar leads the Blue Devils in conference victories this season with 12 and enters the conference tournament this week on a five match win streak. The Burr Ridge, Ill., product has collected a 25-9 overall singles mark and a 16-7 ledger in doubles. Mar, who is currently ranked No. 35 nationally in singles, owns an all-time singles record of 94-37 over her four years with the Blue Devils.
Duke is set to compete in the ACC Tournament, opening competition against either 12th-seeded Maryland or 13th-seeded Wake Forest at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 24.
