U.S. Tops Germany to Stay Undefeated at World Cup

THE HAGUE, Netherlands – The United States’ women’s national field hockey team remained undefeated in pool play, earning a 4-1 victory over Germany Sunday, June 8 at the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup.

Former Blue Devil Stefanie Fee and the U.S. defense held sixth-ranked Germany scoreless through the first half of the contest. Team USA’s attack broke through for a score in the 33rd minute for a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Following the intermission, the U.S. squad added a goal off of a penalty corner in the 38th minute and would score one more before Germany got on the board late.

Team USA remains undefeated in the tournament with wins over England, China and Germany, and a draw with Argentina. The team concludes pool play Tuesday, June 10 at 8:30 EST against South Africa. The match will be streamed live on ESPN3.
