DURHAM, N.C. – Duke wide receiver Jamison Crowder and safety and kickoff returner DeVon Edwards were named to the Sporting News Preseason All-America Team, the publication announced. Additionally, redshirt senior linebacker Kelby Brown as named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.

Crowder, a 5-9, 175-pound native of Monroe, N.C., was tabbed to Sporting News’ All-America second team, while Edwards, 5-9, 185-pound native of Covington, Ga., was a third team selection. Sporting News also picked Crowder as the top deep threat in college football and as having the best hands in the ACC.

Crowder was an All-America selection as a punt returner and an All-ACC first team choice at wide receiver in 2013 after hauling in an ACC-record 108 passes for 1,360 yards and eight touchdowns and returning 25 punts for 401 yards (16.0 yards per return) and two touchdowns. He topped 100 receiving yards in seven games, including a 12-catch, 163-yard performance against Texas A&M in the Chick-fil-A Bowl that also included a 59-yard touchdown reception.

Edwards was an All-America pick as a redshirt freshman in 2013 after finishing third in the nation with 30.2 yards per kickoff return and tied for the national lead with two kickoff return touchdowns. Edwards, a safety, scored four total touchdowns in his first season, including back-to-back interception returns for scores in a 38-20 win over NC State. Edwards also returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in that game and helped Duke lock up the ACC Coastal Division Crown with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown in the regular season finale against North Carolina.

Brown was an All-ACC first team selection as a redshirt junior after totaling 114 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, two interceptions, two pass breakups, eight quarterback hurries, two recovered fumbles and two forced fumbles in 13 games. That career-best performance placed him as the ACC’s second leading tackler and earned him three consecutive ACC Linebacker of the Week awards.

Duke head coach David Cutcliffe also received recognition from Sporting News, earning the title of “Best Coach as Strategist” in the ACC. Cutcliffe was named National Coach of the Year by numerous outlets, and ACC Coach of the Year for the second straight season, after leading the Blue Devils to a school-record 10 wins, the ACC Coastal Division crown and berths in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game and the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
