GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Recent graduate Hanna Mar was named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Women’s Tennis Team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
A student-athlete must earn at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester, as well as maintain a 3.00 cumulative average throughout an academic career.
Mar, who received a degree in mathematics, appeared among the 18 individuals selected to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third time in her career. Joining Mar in earning the honor for the third time in their respective careers was Miami’s Lina Lileikite and NC State’s Joelle Kissell.
Mar concluded her college career ranked 31st in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In doubles, Mar paired with sophomore Beatrice Capra and ended the season ranked fourth by the ITA. The Burr Ridge, Ill., native amassed a singles record of 100-40 throughout her time at Duke, becoming the 23rd Blue Devil in school history to reach 100 career singles wins.
In addition to the conference’s academic recognition, Mar also garnered numerous athletic-related accolades throughout the season. Prior to earning ITA All-America honors after teaming with Capra to reach the semifinal round of the NCAA Doubles Championship, Mar was also named the ITA Carolina Region Senior Player of the Year and the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Most Outstanding Player. Mar also received All-ACC first team recognition at the conclusion of the conference tournament.
