The Duke Football Summer Spotlight runs every Tuesday and Thursday on GoDuke.com and features interviews with members of the reigning ACC Coastal Division Champion Blue Devils.
DURHAM, N.C. -- Redshirt junior Jeremy Cash is the focus of today’s Duke Football Summer Spotlight. The second-year starting safety earned second team All-America honors from USA Today in 2013 after totaling 121 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four pass breakups, two caused fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two quarterback hurries.
Cash, who transferred to Duke from Ohio State following the 2011 season, played the most snaps of any Blue Devil during Duke’s 2013 run to the ACC Coastal Division championship and Chick-fil-A Bowl. He ranked second in the ACC in total tackles and fourth in tackles per game while playing the Strike safety position in Duke’s 4-2-5 defensive scheme. Cash was recently announced as a candidate for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which goes to the top defensive player in college football.
Cash is one of 43 letterwinners returning to Duke in 2014. The Blue Devils open the season on August 30 against Elon at Wallace Wade Stadium. Tickets are available at http://www.goduke.com/footballtix or by calling (919) 681-BLUE.
