Blue Devils Eye World Lacrosse Championship Title

DURHAM, N.C.—A collection of former Blue Devils return to the lacrosse field starting Thursday evening for the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Championship, presented by Trusted Choicein Commerce City, Colo. Overall, five former Duke players will don jerseys or be on the sidelines coaching for three different countries in the nine-day tournament.

Ned Crotty and David Lawson will don the red, white and blue of Team USA, while former United States captain Kevin Cassese will be on the sidelines as an assistant coach. Zack Greer returns to the lacrosse field for Team Canada and Andrew Rullan will suit up for Germany.

Action kicks off July 10 with the opening ceremonies early in the day. Hours later the United States will face off against Canada at 9 p.m. (EDT) on ESPN2. Germany opens play July 11 at 4 p.m., against Belgium. That game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The trio of Crotty, Lawson and Cassese looks to lead the United States to a second consecutive world championship. The US defeated Canada 12-10 in 2010. The 2014 gold medal game is slated for July 19 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
