Turner Southey-Gordon was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar as announced by the GCAA Wednesday evening. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Southey-Gordon posted a 75.2 stroke average a year ago with a pair of top 10 finishes. The junior left-hander played a team-high 31 rounds over 11 tournament, including 25 rounds as a member of the Duke lineup. He fired an even-par 72 in the rain-shortened Wolfpack Spring Open to finish tied for fourth overall and also placed tied for 10th at the ECU Pirate Intercollegiate.
A native of Toronto, Southey-Gordon boasts a 74.5 career stroke average with six top 20 finishes. He has 11 rounds of even-par or better golf, including six under-par efforts.
Duke has now had nine All-America Scholar selections since 2009.
