DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s cross country coach, Christine Engel, announced the 2014 schedule today, with the Blue Devils competing across six different states throughout the season.
Duke opens the 2014 campaign Friday, Aug. 29, joining the men at the Virginia Duals in Charlottesville, Va., before traveling north to Boston, Mass., Friday, Sept. 26, for the Battle in Beantown.
After returning from Boston, the Blue Devils are scheduled to compete at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., Saturday, Oct. 11, where they placed second as a team last season with 44 points. Duke then makes the trip to Madison, Wisc., for the Wisconsin adidas Invitational Friday, Oct. 17, before closing out October competition with the ACC Championships, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31, in Charlottesville, Va.
Following the conference championships, the Blue Devils look to defend their team title at the Three Stripe Invitational in Cary, N.C., Saturday, Nov. 8. Last season, Duke swept the first three positions in Cary, accumulating just 24 points en route to a first-place team finish.
The final two meets of the season include the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, held in Louisville, Ky., on Friday, Nov. 14, and the NCAA Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind.
During the 2013 season, the Duke women’s cross country team amassed an overall record of 96-50, including a 17-13 mark against conference opponents.
