PRIOR TO DUKE: Three-year letterman at Charlotte Latin High School under coach Larry McNulty ... helped the Hawks to a 19-5 record and two state championship game appearances ... elected a team captain as both a junior and senior ... departed Charlotte Latin holding school career records for total offensive yards (8,344), passing yards (6,997) and total TDs (98) ... during senior campaign, completed 151-of-268 passes for 2,949 yards and 43 TDs and rushed 109 times for 778 yards and 10 TDs to help Charlotte Latin to a 10-2 record and North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) Division I state championship game appearance ... as a senior, earned first team NCISAA all-state honors, first team all-conference accolades and the South Charlotte Sports Report Quarterback of the Year Award after setting school single-season records for total yards (3,727), passing yards and passing TDs ... as a junior, led squad to a 9-3 ledger and a spot in the NCISAA Division I state title game ... in junior season, earned second team NCISAA all-state accolades and was an all-conference honoree after completing 158-of-290 passes for 2,398 yards and 27 TDs ... earned three letters in basketball, serving as a team co-captain during senior season.
