DURHAM, N.C. - Former Duke consensus All-America selection Laken Tomlinson was named to NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt's NFL All-Rookie Team, according to a release by NFL.com. Tomlinson, a first round NFL Draft pick by the Detroit Lions in April of 2015, was selected as one of two offensive guards on the squad.

Tomlinson, who played in all 16 games and started 14, helped the Lions to a 7-9 overall record and 5,547 yards of total offense. He helped open holes for 1,335 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while allowing Detroit's quarterbacks to throw for 4,463 yards and 33 scores. Starting QB Matthew Stafford's 32 TD tosses were tied for the seventh most in the regular season while his 4,262 yards were the eighth most.

In selecting Tomlinson, Brandt wrote that Tomlinson "doesn't look flashy, but he's steady and effective; his man rarely makes a play. He'll be a reliable presence for a number of years."

Tomlinson, a team captain as a senior in 2014, guided the Blue Devils to three consecutive bowl appearances and the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championship. He was a consensus All-America selection following his final campaign and was a four-time Academic All-ACC honoree.
