GLASGOW, Scotland – Duke University freshman Yusuke Legard was in action Saturday at the 2016 British Swimming Championships/Olympic Trials.
Legard competed in the men’s 50-meter freestyle, clocking a mark of 23.35 to finish tied for 14th in preliminaries. That clocking ranked him tied for seventh among the 17-20 year-old age group.
A native of Weybridge, Surrey, United Kingdom, Legard represented the Blue Devils at the ACC Championship in his first year. He turned in a pair of top-35 finishes in the 50 and 200-yard freestyle, clocking a season-best time of 20.62 in the 50 freestyle preliminaries.
Legard punched his ticket to the British Olympic Trials in December at the 2015 AT&T Winter National Championships. He surpassed the British Trials standard of 23.62 with a 23.36 clocking in that performance.
