Leigh Ann Garstecki joined the Duke Recreation and Physical Education staff as the Director of Fitness in August 2015. She spent the last three years as the Director for the Fitness/Aquatics Department at the University of Maine at Machias where she oversaw facilities, personal training, group fitness and programming, taught academic courses, as well as coached women’s basketball.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Garstecki received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. While there, she worked with Badger Athletics as a student sports nutritionist and volunteered with the Strength & Conditioning Staff, primarily working with football and volleyball. Leigh Ann received her Masters of Science in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University where she served as a Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Her current certifications include: NSCA, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS); Primary Group Exercise Certification; CPR/AED/First Aid Certified.
A Wisconsin native, Garstecki has been training for 15 years, working with every client type varying from beginner level to DI Athletes, and ages ranging from pre-teen to 80+.
