Bio

Michael Terwilliger joined the Duke track & field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in September of 2015 and works primarily with pole vault specialists and male multi-event athletes.

The 2017 season saw Terwilliger assist with Daniel Golubovic, a graduate student that achieved NCAA second team All-America recognition and was named the 2017 ACC Decathlon Champion during the outdoor season. Multi-event athletes Daniel Golubovic and Robert Rohner posted the second and third-best decathlon point totals in Duke history during the outdoor season. Additionally, Rohner earned the 2014 ACC Outdoor Decathlon Champion and 2016 ACC Indoor Heptathlon Champion titles.

Terwilliger helped oversee a successful 2017 pole vault squad that was led by second team All-America honoree Madison Heath and All-America honorable mention Connor Hall and Laura Marty. Four Blue Devil women pole vault specialists etched their name on the Duke all-time list during the 2017 indoor season while Connor Hall set the school record during the outdoor season with a clearance of 17-6.50 (5.35).

Terwilliger also assisted with pole vaulter Megan Clark (’15). Clark owns the indoor and outdoor school record as well as the ACC pole vault record, was a three-time All-America honoree, a two-time ACC Champion and was named the 2015 ACC Women’s Field Performer of the Year.

During his collegiate career at Susquehanna University, Terwilliger was a standout multi-event athlete for the River Hawks. Terwilliger earned Men’s First Team All-Landmark accolades and was named a Landmark Conference Outstanding Student-Athlete in 2014. Terwilliger graduated from Susquehanna in 2015 with degrees in biology and chemistry.

Terwilliger currently works in the Duke University Medical Center as a biomedical research technician for the Dermatology Department.
