DURHAM, N.C. – Duke landed three selections – cornerback Breon Borders, linebacker Ben Humphreys and linebacker Joe Giles-Harris – on the All-ACC football team following a vote by members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
Borders and Humphreys both garnered third team all-league accolades while Giles-Harris was an honorable mention selection.
Borders, a senior from Statesville, N.C., currently leads the ACC in total passes defended per game (1.30) after totaling two interceptions and 11 pass breakups on the season. Despite missing the last three games due to injury, Borders posted 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery this past season. In 49 career games at Duke, he totaled 148 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 quarterback sack, 12 interceptions, 34 pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
Humphreys, a sophomore from Newport Beach, Calif., registered 106 total tackles along with 11.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 quarterback sacks, one interception, two fumble recoveries, one pass breakup and four QB pressures this season. He currently ranks tied for sixth in the conference in tackles per game (8.83).
Giles-Harris, a redshirt freshman from Nyack, N.Y., led the Blue Devils in total tackles with 107 while contributing 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 quarterback sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, two pass breakups and four QB pressures on the year. He stands fifth in the league in tackles per game (8.92).
