DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore defensive linemen Brandon Boyce and Marquies Price have been dismissed from the Duke football team after failing to meet the standards of a member of the program, head coach David Cutcliffe announced on Tuesday.
A 6-0, 255-pound native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Boyce saw action in eight games as a reserve a season ago and carded seven tackles with 1.0 quarterback sack. In 21 career games, he compiled 31 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, one caused fumble and one quarterback pressure.
A 6-6, 245-pound native of Fort Valley, Ga., Price played in and started 11 games in 2016 and recorded 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and six quarterback pressures. In 21 career games including 14 starting assignments, he amassed 34 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and six quarterback pressures.
Duke opens the 2017 season at home against N.C. Central on September 2.
