TCU Series History
Saturday’s match will be just the third in series history, with the Horned Frogs winning the first two matches, 6-2 on March 21, 1985, and 4-3 on February 6, 2015 … Two years ago the Blue Devils dropped a close decision in the first round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Women’s Team Indoor Championship … Current Blue Devils Samantha Harris, Alyssa Smith and Rebecca Smaller participated in singles during that contest with Smaller recording a 4-6, 6-1 6-0 victory against Seda Arantekin on court five.

Scouting the Horned Frogs
TCU has gotten off to a strong start in dual match play, posting a 6-1 record … The Horned Frogs are led by Donika Bashota, who is 2-1 on court one and has played eight matches against nationally ranked opponents … Arantekin, ranked No. 94, has filled the No. 2 position with a 5-0 record and won her last seven matches … Olaya Garrido-Rivas has been solid in the fourth and fifth spots with a combined 6-1 record … In doubles, Bashota and Garrido-Rivas are 5-1 on court one and ranked No. 10 in the nation while Arantekin and Caroline Wegner are 5-1 on court two … As a team, TCU is 14-3 (.824 winning percentage) in dual match doubles decisions and 23-6 (.793 winning percentage) in dual match singles play.

Strong at Home
With a 4-0 start at home this season, the Blue Devils own an impressive 69-8 (.896 winning percentage) home record during the past six-plus seasons ... Duke already owns two home wins versus top-25 foes this year after capturing nine victories against ranked opponents in Ambler Stadium and the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center during the 2015-16 campaign.

A Skid is Snapped
Duke’s 5-2 victory Wednesday at N.C. State broke Duke’s three-match losing streak … Since head coach Jamie Ashworth took over the program during the 1997 season, the Blue Devils have just two losing streaks of four or more matches, dropping four from April 7-15, 2007, and five from February 6-21, 2015.

Strength at the Middle
Duke owns a combined 10-1 mark (.909 winning percentage) in dual matches on courts three and four as Meible Chi is 2-0 on court three while Chalena Scholl is 3-0 there … Kaitlyn McCarthy is 5-1 on court four … The two courts were also a position of strength for Duke during the 2016 campaign as the Blue Devils combined for a 34-10 record (.773 winning percentage) at No. 3 and No. 4.

Harris Picks Up First Top-100 Win of Year
Wednesday at N.C. State, Harris defeated No. 30 Martina Frantova 6-4, 7-6 (2) … The triumph was the first for Harris against a ranked opponent since defeating No. 119 Fernanda Navarro of Clemson 6-2, 6-1 at the ITA Regional Championship in late October … It was Harris’ first top-30 victory since downing No. 25 Stephanie Nauta of Virginia 6-2, 6-1 on March 22, 2015 … Harris also snapped a personal five-match losing streak with the Wednesday win.

Another Win to Start the ACC Season
Duke’s Wednesday win at N.C. State gave the Blue Devils 31 victories in their last 32 ACC openers … The Blue Devils had their streak of 28 straight league-opening victories snapped in 2014 with a 5-2 setback at Virginia.

Chi Approaches Duke Freshman Singles Wins Chart
With a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Claudia Wiktorin on court two Wednesday at N.C. State, Chi recorded her 21st singles triumph of the year, nine shy from a spot on the Duke freshman singles wins chart … Vanessa Webb owns the record with 51 wins in 1996 … The last Blue Devils to crack the list were Beatrice Capra and Monica Turewicz with 32 victories in 2012.

Among the ITA Rankings
The Blue Devils check in at No. 17 in this week’s Oracle/ITA ledger … Duke continues to have a trio of ranked singles players, led by Chi at No. 20 ... Scholl checks in as No. 38 while McCarthy is No. 103 … The Blue Devils also have two doubles teams with Chi and McCarthy at No. 29 and Scholl and McCarthy are No. 49.
