DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke University tandem of Brooke Heinsohn and Karlie Paschall were two of 24 players selected to travel to La Manga, Spain along with the United States Under-20 Women’s National Team.  The duo will play three matches for the U-20 squad as the group begins a new cycle with the goal of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.

The USA will face the Under-19 sides from Norway (March 3 at 11:30 a.m. ET), Germany (March 5 at 9 a.m. ET) and France (March 7 at 10 a.m. ET) in La Manga, but will be playing against teams with players from the same birth years. The matches will be available to watch online with details coming on U.S. Soccer’s Twitter account for the Youth National Teams @ussoccer_ynt.

A native of Norfolk, Mass., Heinsohn recently enrolled at Duke, after missing the fall campaign as she competed with the U-20 National Team in the U-20 World Cup played in Papua New Guinea.  The 6-1 goalkeeper was the top net minder in the class coming out of high school.  She was the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year for 2015-16 and 2015 NSCAA All-America, while collecting 49 shutouts in 58 high school appearances for The Rivers School.

Paschall, who hails from Brentwood, Tenn., has competed on many different U.S. national teams ranging from U-14 through U-19 over the years.  Listed as the No. 9 overall recruit in the 2017 class, Paschall signed with Duke in February and will be a freshman with the Blue Devils in the fall.  She was a 2015 and 2016 NSCAA Youth All-America, while collecting 60 goals and 32 assists in her final two years of high school.

The roster is a mixture of collegiate and youth club players with 10 already enrolled in college.

The U-20 WNT will be in La Manga at the same time as the U-23 women’s national team, which will also be playing three matches.
