DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s tennis senior Chalena Scholl is wrapping up her final season with the Blue Devils and has just 14 regular season matches remaining in her Duke career. A Pompano Beach, Fla., native, Scholl currently owns a 15-5 singles record and looks to continue her success through the conference championship and the NCAA Tournament.

Scholl recently spent time with GoDuke.com to look back at her Duke career and what she has valued the most.

GoDuke.com: How do you know that coming to Duke was the right decision for you?

Chalena Scholl: I knew as soon as I met the girls on the team and the coaches. I like how Duke is a great combination of academics and athletics.

GoDuke.com: What have the relationships you’ve formed here meant to you and how have they added to your experience?

Scholl: They have meant the world to me. The relationships I’ve formed here will be a part of my life for the rest of my life. I’ve gone through some of my worst and best times with my teammates. It’s just a bond that will never be broken.

GoDuke.com: What will a degree from Duke mean to you?

Scholl: It will definitely mean a lot. We all put in the work to get that degree, especially when you’re on a varsity team.

GoDuke.com: What has been your proudest academic achievement throughout your four years?

Scholl: I made Dean’s List with Distinction one year.

GoDuke.com: What is one lesson Duke tennis has taught you that you will carry over to the rest of your life?

Scholl: That you will encounter some rough times and all you can do is put your head down and make the situation as best you can.

GoDuke.com: What’s one team goal you all have for the rest of the season?

Scholl: To have no regrets. Every time we step on the court, we want to give everything we have.

GoDuke.com: How has your role changed from being a freshman to a senior?

Scholl: I think this year I have definitely led the team more and have been more aware of what is going on in everyone’s lives.
