DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University women's soccer alumnae Christina Gibbons and Rebecca Moros will return to the state of North Carolina this weekend as FC Kansas City will play at the North Carolina Courage in NWSL action. The match will take place Saturday, June 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The North Carolina Courage currently sits in first place in the NWSL with a 5-3 record, while FC Kansas City is sixth with a 3-2-2 mark. Tickets can be purchased by heading to www.northcarolinafc.com, calling 919-459-8144 or day of the match.
Moros and Gibbons are two of 10 total NSCAA All-America selections for the Blue Devils and are in their first season with FC Kansas City. A four-year letterwinner at Duke from 2003-06, Moros earned third-team All-America accolades in 2006, while also being named All-ACC on three different occasions. She finished her career at Duke with 15 goals, 20 assists and 50 points.
Gibbons, a native of Raleigh, N.C., was the No. 5 overall selection by FC Kansas City in the January draft, after turning in a standout career with the Blue Devils. One of the most decorated Duke women's soccer standouts in school history, Gibbons was just the third Blue Devil to earn NSCAA First Team All-America honors and one of two Duke alumnae to be named a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy. The 5-6 defender/midfielder earned First Team All-ACC honors in each of her final three years and concluded her career starting 87-of-88 contests, including the final 73 in a row.
On the season, Gibbons has started six of the seven matches and played a total of 553 minutes. Moros has started four of her five matches played and logged 338 minutes. Over the last three matches, Moros has played 83 or more minutes and the Blues have totaled a 2-0-1 record.
