DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced Duke as one of 15 host sites for the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The ITA held its draft for the event on Wednesday, resulting in the Blue Devils being joined by LSU, Washington and Fresno State.
As host, the 12th-ranked Duke women's team garnered the top seed for the region with the No. 21 Tigers as the second seed, the No. 36 Huskies as the third seed and the Bulldogs as the fourth seed.
The matches, set to occur in Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center, are scheduled to take place January 27-28, 2018. The winner of each campus site advances to the 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championships February 9-12, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
Last season, Duke reached the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with back-to-back wins against William & Mary and Northwestern during the 2017 ITA Kick-Off Weekend competition. The Blue Devils did not drop a match against William & Mary, winning 4-0, before defeating 25th-ranked Northwestern, 4-3, to earn a spot in the national event.
