TRUJILLO, Peru – Freshman javelin specialist Katelyn Gochenour represented Team USA at the 2017 Pan-American Junior Championships today and posted a third-place finish to round out her rookie campaign.

Gochenour registered a mark of 165-10 (50.56) to notch third place in the women’s javelin competition.

The Logan, Iowa, native secured her spot after placing second at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Championships with a mark of 158-10 (48.43).

Gochenour capped her first collegiate season with a school-record toss of 178-0 (54.26) to finish sixth in the women’s javelin competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June.

The first team All-America honoree had previously taken the bronze medal at the ACC Outdoor Championships, set a school record in the javelin throw three times last season and received ACC Women’s Freshman of the Year accolades for her efforts.
