CARY, N.C. – The Duke men’s tennis team opened the 2017 fall slate Friday at the Duke James Bonk Invite. The Blue Devils registered five doubles victories and four singles triumphs during the opening day of the tournament at the Cary Tennis Park.
Highlighting the action was junior Jason Lapidus, who went 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles competition. Lapidus defeated Wake Forest’s Sean Hannity (6-3, 6-2) and partnered with classmate Catalin Mateas to down Nilo Duarte and Sahil Deshmukh of North Florida (8-7 ) and the draw’s No. 2 seed Michael Ogden and Goergly Malyshev (8-7 ).
The Blue Devils return to action at 9 a.m. Saturday with the second round of singles play.
