Five Blue Devils Set to Kick off 2018 LPGA Season

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s golf will be well-represented on the LPGA Tour in 2018 as five former Blue Devils -- Brittany Lang, Laetitia Beck, Lindy Duncan, Celine Boutier and Yu Liu – feature tour cards for the season, which kicks off Jan. 25-28 in the Bahamas.

The 2018 LPGA season will feature 34 events in 14 different countries for a record $68.75 million in prize money. The Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic opens the season for the LPGA Jan. 25-28 in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Lang, the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open Champion, enters her 13th year on the LPGA Tour and owns $6,725,105 career earnings. The two-time All-America at Duke competed in 25 events in 2017 and made $248,934, which ranked 69th on tour. Lang is a five-time Solheim Cup selection.

A 2014 Blue Devil graduate, Beck is coming off a 2017 campaign where she earned $68,967 in 20 events. She notched a career-best eight place finish at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. She earned her 2018 card by finishing tied 13th at the LPGA Stage III Qualifying in December of 2017.

Duncan, who graduated from Duke in 2013, is coming off a 2017 season where she competed in in 21 events and made 14 cuts, while earning $165,583. The totaled her first two top-10 finishes of her career, including a career-best fourth place result at the Manulife LPGA Classic.

Both Boutier and Liu earned their tour cards, after outstanding seasons on the Symetra Tour in 2017. Boutier, a 2016 Duke graduate, accumulated $112,044 in earning as she won two tournaments and made 18-of-19 cuts. Liu, an All-America at Duke in 2014, tallied $86,110 as she posted 10 top 20 finishes in her last 11 events, while winning the Tullymore Classic. She became just the third player from China to ever win on the Symetra Tour.

Beck will kick things off Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:10 a.m., off hole No. 1, followed by Lang (7:54 a.m., #1), Duncan (11:25 a.m., #1), Liu (11:36 a.m., #1) and Boutier (11:47 a.m., #10).

Fans can follow the action live on the Golf Channel on Jan. 25-26 from 11:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., Jan. 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Jan. 28 from 3-5 p.m.
