Robbie Church on Mackenzie Pluck: “Mackenzie is a very versatile player. She can play both in the midfield and up front. We really love our attacking players to be able to pick up balls and run at players and she is very good on that front. She strikes the ball well off the dribble, as well. We will look at her to provide some goal scoring for us, whether out of the midfield or playing up front. She is a very talented player that we believe can come in and see some significant playing time for us.”
Mackenzie Pluck on Joining Duke: “First and foremost, to win a national championship. Besides that, I chose Duke because it’s the top university in the world. It’s a place to be academically challenged, surrounded by the best professors and brightest students. I was in an airport on my way to Raleigh and while waiting to board a man started a conversation with me. His stories and perspectives on life were inspiring. He told me a Duke education was the greatest place to find my strengths and create a major that matters most to me. I remember thinking if this man feels compelled to share his thoughts with me, Duke must be a special place. In terms of soccer, the coaching staff for the women’s soccer program exceeded my expectations in their commitment to the individual player and their overall belief in the program. I truly believe that this program is equipped to win a national title in the upcoming seasons, and I am honored to join the journey.”
