Meible Chi Named to ITA Indoors All-Tournament Team

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s tennis sophomore Meible Chi was named to the 2018 ITA Division I National Women’s Team Indoor Championships Sports Interior All-Tournament Team, as announced by the ITA on Thursday. The teams were voted on by the 16 participating coaches.

Chi went 3-0 on court five during the tournament. The Weston, Fla., native opened the tournament with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over South Carolina’s Megan Davies in Duke’s 4-0 win. The next day, her 6-4, 7-5 win over Georgia’s 71st-ranked Morgan Coppoc tied the team score at 3, a match Duke eventually won 4-3. Chi closed out the tournament with a 6-2, 6-4 win over North Carolina’s No. 21 Jessie Aney, representing Duke’s only point in a 4-1 loss.

Chi is 16-3 so far this season, including 7-0 in dual matches. All seven wins have come on court five and she is on an 11-match winning streak. Chi is currently ranked No. 106 in the ITA singles rankings.

Duke’s next match will be on Sunday when the Blue Devils travel to Raleigh to face NC State at 2:00 p.m. for the first ACC match of the year.
