DURHAM, N.C. – For the fourth time this season, Duke women’s tennis freshman Kelly Chen has been selected as the ACC’s Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Chen helped Duke to a pair of 7-0 road wins over No. 12 Wake Forest and No. 24 Virginia. She won a pair of ACC singles matches and combined with Samantha Harris to earn a doubles win.

Chen opened the weekend with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Wake Forest’s Chandler Carter at position No. 3. She followed it with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Virginia’s Meghan Kelley.

Chen and Harris partnered to win their team-high fifth ranked doubles win by beating Virginia’s 14th-ranked tandem of Rosie Johanson and Kelley 6-3.

The Cerritos, Calif., native leads Duke with a 22-7 singles record, including 9-1 in dual matches. She has opened her ACC season with three straight wins and is 7-1 at position No. 3 this season. Chen also has a 5-6 ledger against nationally ranked opponents. On the doubles court, Chen has teamed with Harris to notch a 14-5 record this season.

Duke will next travel to Lake Nona, Fla., to take on TCU at the USTA National Campus on March 13.
