KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A pair of Blue Devils secured return trips to the NCAA Championships with their performances in men’s one-meter diving Tuesday at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. Junior Evan Moretti and sophomore Nathaniel Hernandez both punched their tickets to the national meet later this month in Minneapolis.
Moretti earned his third consecutive trip to NCAAs and Hernandez his second with top-six finishes on the one-meter springboard.
An honorable mention All-American on the three-meter board as a freshman, Moretti was third in Tuesday’s event final with a combined score of 709.75 points on 12 dives. The Scarsdale, N.Y., native totaled 361.75 points in the final round, topping the 60-point mark on four of his six dives. The fifth round saw Moretti garner an award of 66.65 points on an inward 2.5 somersault for a 3.1 degree of difficulty.
Moretti is also eligible to compete on the three-meter board at NCAAs by virtue of his third-place showing Tuesday and a top-12 finish on the three-meter board Monday in Knoxville.
