STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The seventh-ranked Duke men hit the strips today for day three of the NCAA Fencing Championship in State College, Pa., and jumped four spots on the leaderboard in the team standings with 45 points.

Notre Dame continues to lead the way with 152 points, followed by Columbia (137), Ohio State (117), Penn State (113) and Harvard (98) round out the top five.

Senior Pascual Di Tella leads the men in seventh, having won seven bouts in saber. Fellow saberist Agoston Walter holds 22nd overall with three victories.

In foil, sophomore Eoin Gronningsater owns 10th-place with seven wins after three rounds of action followed by freshman Brycen Rushing in 18th with five victories.

Junior Bryn Hammarberg sits in 17th with five wins on the day.

Di Tella, Gronningsater, Hammarberg, Rushing and Walter will compete in their final eight bouts of pool play in their respective weapons tomorrow and will attempt to move up the leaderboard. The top four fencers in each weapon will advance to the semifinals and finals of a single-elimination bracket of 15-touch bouts.

The semifinal and championship bouts will be aired on ESPN3 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
