DURHAM, N.C. – Fresh off a road series victory at Florida State this past weekend, No. 9 Duke readies for another ranked team as the Blue Devils host No. 12 East Carolina at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 17 at Jack Coombs Field.
After a 5-0 shutout victory against Davidson in the midweek, Duke (30-7, 12-5 ACC) secured a pair of ACC road victories against the Seminoles Friday and Saturday before the finale was canceled due to inclement weather. The Blue Devils not only earned their first series victory over Florida State in Tallahassee since 1994 but also reached 30 wins for the fifth straight year, joining No. 1 Florida as the first two teams in Division I to reach that mark this season.
The Blue Devils’ success over the weekend propelled Duke further up the national polls. As of Monday morning, Duke sits at No. 8 in the Baseball America list, No. 9 on D1Baseball’s ledger and No. 8 in Perfect Game’s list.
Twelfth-ranked East Carolina (26-9, 5-4 AAC) dropped its first weekend series of the year as USF claimed an American Athletic Conference series win over the Pirates in Greenville, N.C. ECU is ranked No. 12 by D1Baseball, No. 11 by Baseball America and No. 16 by Perfect Game entering Tuesday’s matchup against the Blue Devils.
The two North Carolina programs first met in 1958 with East Carolina holding a 37-13 overall series advantage. Duke is in search of its first win over the Pirates since 1998.
ACC Network Extra is set to broadcast Tuesday’s matchup with Ryan Craig (play-by-play) and Ron Causey (analyst) on the call. A live audio broadcast is available via GoDuke.com featuring Chris Edwards.
Single-game tickets for this Tuesday’s game are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for youth (ages 3-17) and seniors (65+), and free for children under two. Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
