SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – With a three-under-par, 213, over three days of action, Duke University signee Gina Kim placed tied sixth at the AJGA Thunderbird International Junior. Kim finished only four shots off the lead and was five-under over the final two days of action at the Grayhawk Golf Club Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C., posted rounds of 74, 68 and 71 over 54 holes. She registered three birdies Monday in the final round on No. 9, No. 11 and No. 17. In Sunday’s second round, Kim birdied four out of her final five holes to finish with a 68, which was the low round of the day.
Yuka Saso won the title with a seven-under, 209, with rounds of 67, 72 and 70.
Kim will next travel to Shoal Creek, Ala., to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open May 31 to June 3 at Shoal Creek Golf Club.
