DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke graduate Katherine Maitland and rising senior Isabel Ruby-Hill were named to the 2018 Division I All-Conference Team by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, as announced by the organization.
The 2018 CRCA Division I All Conference Teams replace the All Region award previously given by the CRCA. These awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each Division I rowing conference. These athletes will be eligible for 2018 All-America awards selection.
Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches' recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
Maitland garnered Region 3 first team accolades in 2017 and CRCA second team honors in 2016.
Maitland and Ruby-Hill guided the Blue Devils to a third-place finish at the ACC Championship where No. 18 Duke advanced a program-best five boats to the Grand Final. As members of the V8 for the entire spring campaign, the duo captured the Carolina Cup crown for the second-consecutive year, placed seventh as an unranked team at the Clemson Invitational, besting No. 18 Syracuse and No. 20 Oklahoma and defeated No. 15 Michigan State in four out of five boats in double dual action in Columbus, Ohio.
