DURHAM, N.C. – A successful 2017-18 academic year on the track and in the classroom earned another honor, as 13 members of the Duke track & field program received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, as announced by the organization Thursday. A total of 874 women and 624 men earned the honor.

Blue Devil women awarded the accolade included recent graduate Madison Heath and current student-athletes Rivka Arbiv, Brittany Aveni, MacKenzie Kerr, Jaida Lemmons, India Lowe and Laura Marty. Heath headlines the Blue Devil squad with the fourth selection of her career, while Kerr earns the honor for the third time. Aveni and Marty land on the list for the second time.

On the men’s side, recent graduates Jordan Burton, Alec Kunzweiler and Steven Solomon earned a spot on the All-Academic Team, along with Rivers Ridout, Jacob Sobota and Matt Wisner.

Both the men’s and women’s teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic status, which requires a program to finish highly at their respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, student-athletes must have recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and either finished the indoor regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or the national top 48 in a relay event or participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships during the outdoor season.
