BRUSSELS, Belgium – Former Duke track and field standout Steven Solomon is set to take part in the second IAAF Brussels Diamond League Meet of 2018, competing in the men’s 400m. The event is set to take place at the AG Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, Belgium, featuring some of the world’s top athletes.
As a Duke graduate student, Solomon saw great success during both the 2017 indoor and outdoor campaigns. He wrapped up his career with the Blue Devils as the Duke record holder in the indoor 400m, outdoor 400m and indoor 600m, while also helping set the school record in the outdoor sprint medley relay. Solomon found great success at the ACC Championships, winning the gold at the outdoor meet and the bronze at the indoor edition. The Sydney, Australia, native concluded his collegiate career with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after posting a season-best and Duke record time of 45.30.
Prior to Duke, Solomon won the 2012 Australian National Championships in the 400m, securing a spot in the 2012 Olympic Games in London—where he became the first Australian man to reach an Olympic 400m final. After the Olympics, Solomon went on to compete two years for the Stanford Cardinals, before concluding his collegiate eligibility with the Blue Devils.
The 400m race of the Diamond League Meet will begin at 9:44 a.m. ET, and can be viewed on NBC Sports Gold.
