GREENVILLE, S.C. – The second day of the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic was highlighted by Duke women’s tennis senior Kaitlyn McCarthy advancing to the championship match of the Singles Flight 2 Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C.
McCarthy, a product of Cary, N.C., defeated Mississippi State’s Magda Adaloglou (6-2, 6-4) and will face Paige Cline of South Carolina Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sophomore Ema Lazic also saw success on the courts by defeating Wake Forest’s Mary Caroline Meredith (6-1, 6-3) en route to the Flight 7 consolation championship match. Lazic will take on Lexi Franco of Wake Forest at 10 a.m., Sunday.
The duo’s run in the second flight of doubles ended in the championship match by falling in a close tiebreak battle to Mississippi State’s Adaloglou and Emma Antonaki, 8-7 (1).
