DURHAM, N.C. – Following nearly a full week off from competition after the fall’s season-opening Gamecock Fall Invite, the Duke men’s tennis team is back in action at the Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships. The event will take place in Tulsa, Okla., at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center for the 14th straight year.

Prequalifying matches begin on Saturday with qualifying matches starting on Monday and main draw contests getting underway on Thursday. The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for Monday, October 8.

Duke will send junior Spencer Furman into the prequalifying round. The action will be Furman’s first of the fall campaign.

Senior Catalin Mateas and junior Nick Stachowiak lead the Blue Devils in the qualifying rounds. The two will be playing their first tournaments of the fall. Mateas checks in at No. 73 in the preseason Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll while Stachowiak is No. 87.

In doubles, the tandem of Mateas and Stachowiak will take part in the qualifying draw. The pair is ranked No. 46 in the Oracle/ITA preseason ledger.

Singles quarterfinalists, doubles semifinalists and consolation finalists will receive an automatic entry into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, held November 7-11, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

Following action at the ITA All-American, Duke will host the ITA Regional Qualifier in Cary, N.C., at the Cary Tennis Park from October 12-16.
