DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Spencer Furman picked up Duke’s first win at the Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships on Saturday night with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Northwestern’s Simen Bratholm.

Furman’s match was in the Round of 128 in the prequalifying stage. He had a bye in the Round of 256.

On Sunday, Furman will take on the winner of the Michael Ogden (N.C. State) and Shawn Jackson (Hofstra) contest in the Round of 64.

Senior Catalin Mateas and junior Nick Stachowiak start competition Monday with the qualifying rounds. Furman could advance to the qualifying stage with two victories on Sunday.
