TULSA, Okla. – A pair of Blue Devils advanced in singles Monday in the Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships. Junior Spencer Furman pushed his All-American winning streak to four matches while classmate Nick Stachowiak earned his first victory of the fall.
In doubles, Stachowiak and senior Catalin Mateas fell 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 1-0 (8) to Texas' Leonard Telles and Rodrigo Banzer.
Furman won with a retirement and No. 87 Stachowiak defeated Ohio State's Tim Seibert 7-6 (5), 6-0 to both advance to the singles Round of 64. No. 73 Mateas dropped his singles decision to Illinois' Zeke Clark, ranked No. 96.
Tuesday, Furman faces N.C. State’s Igor Saveljic and Stachowiak takes on Tulsa’s Daniel Siddall in the Round of 32. Mateas plays a consolation singles match versus Arkansas’ Oscar Mesquida.
