  • The Blue Devils and Fighting Irish square off Friday on ACC Network Extra at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 or out of towners can watch on or via the ESPN app.
  • Duke will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the game with a unique music selection. Early arriving fans will receive a Duke soccer scarf and a Duke soccer horn (think vuvuzela) so they can bring the noise to Koskinen.

  • Duke and Notre Dame are meeting for the 12th time overall and for the ninth time as ACC foes. The Fighting Irish are 6-1-1 in those eight contests with Duke’s win coming in Durham in 2016.
  • Each of the past four matchups have gone into overtime with Duke going 1-2-1, including last season’s scoreless draw at Notre Dame.



  • Duke looks to make it four straight wins Friday night against Notre Dame. The No. 17 Blue Devils are 7-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in ACC play following the win at No. 10 Virginia.
  • Daniele Proch leads all scorers with a league-best 10 goals, while Ian Murphy has three. Issa Rayyan has been outstanding on the flank, providing a team-best three assists and recently registered his first career goal. Fellow rookie Seth Kuhn has two assists to his name. Brandon Williamson is the engine to the midfield, while Max Moser is a threat from the right midfield and has two assists. Duke has eight different players with at least one goal.
  • Rookie Aedan Stanley has been anchoring the backline in the centerback position. A captain, Ciaran McKenna and sophomore Matthias Frick man the wings on defense, and also provide threats on set pieces offensively. Will Pulisic is the leader from the back in goal. Fresh off of a strong rookie campaign, Pulisic was tabbed one of the top 11 goalkeepers by Top Drawer Soccer. He has three shutouts this season and 10 in his career and earned All-ACC third team recognition as a freshman. Currently he sports a 1.35 goals against average and a .700 save percentage.
  • Off the bench, Duke has the strongest it’s been in recent memory with a wealth of talent ready to step in. Daniel Wright has been solid off the bench and in three starting assignments, netting a goal and three assists in the past three games. Seth Kuhn, a starter in the first five games, has been a spark off the bench recently as have been Kristofer Gardarsson and Conor Kelly. Nicolas Macri and Colby Agu can step in and provide a punch offensively.



  • Duke used a pair of first-half goals to post a 2-0 shutout of Campbell in non-conference action Tuesday evening. Maintaining his near one-goal per game average, Daniele Proch notched his 10th tally of the year, while rookie Issa Rayyan finally broke through for his first collegiate goal. Goalie Will Pulisic had three saves for his third shutout.



  • Duke goalkeeper Will Pulisic made seven saves, including a penalty kick stop in overtime, to highlight an outstanding defensive effort by the 15th-ranked Blue Devils in a 0-0 draw with No. 12 Notre Dame last season. The Irish outshot Duke 17-7 for the game and had a 13-4 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn’t solve the Blue Devils’ defense.



  • Duke and Notre Dame share a pair of ACC opponents in common. The Irish went 2-0, while Duke split at 1-1.

  • Junior forward Daniele Proch is having an outstanding 2018 with 10 goals in 11 games. After netting three goals in the opening weekend to earn College Soccer News Team of the Week honors, the Italy native tallied two more to lead Duke to the 4-1 at San Diego and repeat Team of the Week recognition. He has scored in eight of the 11 games this season and has scored in four straight games.
  • His 10 goals are double five he scored in 20 games last season and are tied for the most since Andrew Wenger had 17 in 2011. Proch needs four more to tie for 11th in Duke single-season history and is five shy of moving into the top 10.
  • One of the nation’s top scorers, Proch’s 0.91 goals per game average is tops in the league and sixth nationally, while the 1.91 points per game average is also second in the ACC and 11th in Division I soccer. He is one of 12 Division I players to have at least 10 goals this season.

  • Notre Dame comes into Durham on a four-game win streak and ranked ninth in the latest coaches’ poll. The Irish most recently defeated No. 6 Louisville 2-1 in overtime. The 17th-ranked Blue Devils are the eighth top-25 opponent for Notre Dame this season. It is 4-3 against ranked foes.
  • Offensively, Notre Dame is averaging 1.82 goals per game and 10.5 shots per game. The Irish are led in scoring by Patrick Berneski’s five goals, while Felicien Dumas has a goal and six assists for eight points. Nine different players have scored at least one goal and the Irish have been shut out just twice.
  • In the defensive third, Notre Dame has allowed only nine goals all season to sport a 0.80 goals against average. The Irish are anchored in goal by Ryan Krutz with a .733 save percentage and a 0.85 goals against average. He is averaging only 2.4 saves per game and is 5-3-1 overall.



  • The Blue Devils feature a busy home schedule again in 2018, playing at Koskinen Stadium 11 times. Duke is 5-1-1 this season and went 10-3-2 in 2017. The Blue Devils are amidst a five-game homestand as they search to get to 9-1-1 in Koskinen.
  • Under John Kerr, Duke is 81-27-17 at home for a .716 win percentage. The Blue Devils’ best season was 2009, going 12-1-0 at home.



  • Duke is 19-17-9 in ACC regular season and tournament home games since 2008 for a .522 win percentage.
  • The current Blue Devils are 6-7-2 against conference foes at Koskinen Stadium.



  • Duke climbed spots this week following the win at Virginia. The Blue Devils are 17th in both the United Soccer Coaches Association and College Soccer News rankings. Duke is 10th according to Soccer America.



  • Duke has two teams currently ranked in the top 25 remaining on its schedule. The opener versus No. 20 FIU was the first time Duke had opened against a ranked opponent since hosting 20th-ranked Louisville in 2010.
  • The Blue Devils captured four top 25 wins in 2017, the most by a Kerr team after they won three in 2015 and 2008.



  • Duke closes out its non-conference schedule Tuesday against High Point. It’s a 7 p.m., kickoff on ACC Network Extra.
