CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team advanced its only doubles team Thursday afternoon to open the ITA Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Senior Kaitlyn McCarthy and junior Meible Chi earned a bye in the first round before defeating North Carolina’s Chloe Ouellet-Pizer and Sophia Patel, 8-4, in the round of 32.

The duo will face Appalachian State’s Teodora Sevo and Rebecca Morse Friday at 9 a.m.

Also hitting the court Friday for the Blue Devils will be sophomore Ema Lazic alongside Chi and McCarthy in the singles main draw. Lazic will take on Wake Forest’s Anna Brylin, Chi will face Miljana Ristic of Garner-Webb and McCarthy will go against Giulia Turconi of South Carolina.
