DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke rowing team continues its fall slate this weekend, traveling to Princeton, N.J., to take part in the Princeton Chase on Sunday morning. This year’s event will be held on Lake Carnegie and the Blue Devils will begin competition with the varsity 8+ at 9:30 a.m.
After racing only two boats to open the fall last Sunday, the Blue Devils will send a haul of boats into action this weekend with five varsity 8+, five varsity 4+ and a pair of novice 8+ boats. Following the varsity 8+ at 9:30 a.m., the fours will take the course at 11:45 a.m., followed by the novice 8+ at 12:15 p.m.
In its first race of the season, Duke posted a solid weekend at the Head of the Charles last weekend, which was highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the club 4 boat competition. The Blue Devils also raced in the championship 8 boat competition, coming away with a 19th-place finish to round out the weekend.
The Princeton 3-Mile Chase is a head-race hosted by the Princeton University crew coaching staff for men and women collegiate crews. The Blue Devils registered three top-five finishes a season ago at Princeton and will compete along a 2.75-mile course against many of the top collegiate programs on the East Coast.
Following this weekend’s race, Duke will have two fall events remaining in the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 3 and the Rivanna Romp on Nov. 11.
