DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt senior tight end Daniel Helm has accepted an invitation to play in the 94th East-West Shrine Game, according to an announcement by the organization. Helm will depart the Blue Devils as a three-year starter with the program.

This year’s Shrine Game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised live by the NFL Network. The game has been a launching pad for numerous NFL careers as 70 NFL Hall of Famers have played in the East-West Shrine Game in addition to more than 265 East-West Shrine Game alumni currently on NFL rosters.

In 37 career games at Duke, Helm has caught 65 passes for 744 yards and six touchdowns. This season, he has hauled in 22 passes for 248 yards and a pair of scores.

The Google Cloud First Team Academic All-District pick is ranked fifth on the team in receptions and fourth in receiving yards and touchdowns. Helm owns three or more receptions in three games with a year-high four catches for 34 yards at Miami. He registered the game-winning touchdown catch against the Hurricanes, helping Duke to its first win at Miami since 1976.

Helm's acceptance marks the first Blue Devil to accept an invitation to the contest since Will Monday in 2015.
