DURHAM, N.C. – Duke forward Zion Williamson has been named the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week for games ending the week of January 27. Williamson was selected by CBSSports.com, in partnership with the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Williamson averaged 24.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 1.7 steals in victories over Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. He posted 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against Pitt, and scored a team-best 26 points against the Irish with nine rebounds, four assists and four blocks – just the third 26-9-4-4 effort in Duke history (Williamson has two).

The Spartanburg, S.C., native is second in the ACC in points per game (22.0), third in rebounds per game (9.2), fifth in blocks per game (2.0), and first in field goal percentage (.681). He is the nation’s only player averaging more than 20 points, while shooting better than .600 from the field.

Williamson earned the honor for the third time this season, while teammate RJ Barrett has been selected once – accounting for four of the nine weeks the award has been presented in 2018-19.

No. 2 Duke (18-2) steps out of conference to welcome St. John’s on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game tips at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
